Fannie and her partner Dale are currently working through Fannie's kidney failure: the transition to dialysis, home dialysis, and hopefully a new kidney transplant.

This entails a lot of logistics, of which the health care system provides as much as possible.

Inevitably, there are further costs associated with their situation, loss of earnings, and limited disability benefits.
